Charlie Moreno is considered to be one of the most promising bass players to come out of Spain and currently works as electric bass teacher, clinician, producer and professional musician.
He started as a self-taught player and had the chance to learn from music masters such as Russell Malone, Gary Grainger, Yellowjackets, Dave Weckl, Tom Kennedy, Richard Bona, Richie Goods, Victor Bailey and Victor Wooten, among others. Charlie is the leader on “Charlie Moreno Bass Fantasy”, his band, “Charlie Moreno Project”, all solo bass work; as well as with the band Chromatology, a power trio. He is active as a sideman with several top pop artists in Spain and as a clinician for Vigier Basses, Eden amplification, D’addario strings and Korg pedals, brands that he proudly endorses.
Throughout his career, he has worked with musicians such as Christian Howes, Chuck Loeb, Polo Ortí, Joel Rosenblatt, Till Bröenner, Eric Marienthal, Anthony Jackson, Steve Lawson, Mike Ricchiuti, Phil Magnotti, Federico Lechner, Torsten de Winkel, Héctor Salazar, José Antonio Ramos, Andreas Prittwitz, Kike Perdomo and Esther Ovejero to name a few.
His name has been linked to several festivals such as European Bass Day (Germany), Fuzz Guitar Show (Sweden), Elbjazz (Hamburg), Bass Day UK, Museumsuferfest (Frankfurt), Barcelona Jazz Festival, Novas Músicas Monforte de Lemos, in many editions of the Canarias Jazz y Más Festival, and the Todobajos Bass Day and WOMAD festival. He also took part in the homage to Jaco Pastorius as guest bassist for the “Jaco Pastorius Big Band” (Heads Up) cd release, back in 2002 (FNAC – Madrid and Barcelona).
In addition to this, the Canary Islands born artist has released three solo efforts to date: So Lonely (2005), Island Style (2007) and Subway to Venus (2010), all them available through cdbaby.com.
